I successfully studied Clothing Design and Technology at Hollings in Manchester, world renowned for its courses in clothing and fashion and then embarked on a career in the clothing industry.
Working as a designer and technologist for clothing manufacturers followed. Later I ran a business designing and making special occasion wear for private clients whilst teaching evening classes for my local College. I studied for my adult teaching qualification too.
I run dressmaking sessions for individuals and small groups ensuring that students have my best attention throughout.
This is me
Catherine Demet and I have been running Love Dressmaking since 2010. In that time I have enjoyed sharing the skills I have acquired through my life-time of dressmaking experiences with many people.
My first sewing experiences started at home where my Mum taught me the basics. I appreciate the great sense of satisfaction that wearing a unique outfit that you have made for yourself can give and I am always happy to see my learners enjoying wearing a garment they have made in class.
Having learnt a few tricks of the trade over the years, I am keen to share these with my students, helping to eliminate laborious, unnecessary tasks whilst aiming for a high quality finish, that looks anything but home made.
